Yoogali SC have claimed bragging rights in their Billabong Cup derby against Yoogali FC, winning 4-3 at Yellow Tail Oval on Saturday night.
YSCnever trailed in the matchbut were forced to fight to the end to claim all three points.
YSC opened the scoring, but YFC were quick to retaliate, levelling the scores at 1-1 midway through the first half.
But the visitors did manage another couple of goals before the break to give themselves a3-1 lead.
YFC opened the scoring in the second half topegthe margin back to just one.
But YSC were determined not to let the three points slip through their fingers, and after claiming a fourth goal, it would havefelt like the win was theirs for the taking.
A late YFC effortkept the game alive, but the home side wasunable to produce an equaliser.
Ryan Spencer andJoseph Preece both bagged doubles for YSC, whileArchie Watkins,Uraia Loki andTuimasi Manuca each grabbed one for YFC.
YSC coach Anthony Martinello said it was a hard-fought game.
“With a derby it’s always going to be tough, no matter where the teams are on the ladder,” he said.
“They’re a dangerous teamand they capitalised on some of our errorsto push us the whole way.”
