Four teenagers in Melbourne have been accused of driving a stolen car into a police constable, pinning his leg against his own vehicle.
Two of the teenage boys were arrested shortly after the incident in Cranbourne, in the city’s outer south-east, while two more were tracked down hours later.
Police say the officer had pulled over the alleged stolen car on Saturday afternoon on the South Gippsland Highway.
“As the police member was walking towards the vehicle the driver attempted to drive around the police vehicle, striking the member and pinning him between the two vehicles,” said police spokeswoman Creina O’Grady.
The officer is recovering in hospital from a severe leg injury.
Three boys, aged 16, and a 14-year-old, have been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, seriously assaulting a police officer, burglary and theft.
The four youths have been remanded in custody and will appear in a Children’s Court at a later date. */]]>
